Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long will my exterior paint job last?

A. In Florida, how long your paint job lasts will pretty much depend on where your property is located. For example, those in coastal areas will experience more deterioration than those in land. The elements also play a big role, heavy rain season, hurricanes, etc.

With that in mind, for the exterior, a good painting job, properly done from the beginning can last anywhere between 5 to 10 years. Your home will most likely look freshly painted and the colors will stay vibrant during these years. We have found that some of our clients can go 15+ years and their houses are still in great shape.

At Thompson Painting we back up every job we perform. Though a refund will not be feasible, we warranty our workmanship. Our policy is that within 30 days, if you are not completely satisfied when it comes to workmanship, we will come back and remedy the concern in a timely manner.

Thompson Painting cannot make any warranties as to the products we will use in your home, however some product manufacturers have certain limited warranties on their products, these can be obtained upon request prior to the job being started.

Q. How do i maintain my interior painting job?

A. Interior paint can get dirty in many different scenarios, but removing the dirt before it piles up not only improves appearance but prevents it from becoming permanently dirty. Check for dirt periodically, especially places near the kitchen and places people touch most often. Clean the surface with a mild soap and a washcloth or sponge. Any harsh cleaners can damage the paint job.

Q. How do i maintain my exterior paint job?

A. We recommend to pressure clean the exterior of your home at least once a year to prevent the accumulation of dirt, mold, etc. The pressure washing job should be done by a professional because if done wrong, it can lead to the peeling of the paint. We offer that service as well, refer to “Our Services”.

Q. When do i pay you?

A. Most jobs require a deposit for material and such, once we finish the job you will pay the difference. We will go over information regarding your specific situation in more detail during the estimate and invoice process.

Q. How long does it take for the paint to dry?

A. Usually a couple of hours is sufficient for regular acrylic paint indoors. Exterior paint may dry faster because of wind, sun, etc. Oil paint however is a bit slower and will most likely dry overnight. A flat paint usually dries faster than a semigloss paint.

Q. What if it starts to rain while you are painting my house?

A. We pay close attention to the weather forecast daily so we will not be surprised. Though the weather can be unpredictable at times, we would just have to stop and wait until the rain subsides.

Q. Can i leave my home while you are painting my house?

A. Exterior jobs are completely fine. But for interior, that would be entirely at your discretion. We’ve had an excellent reputation for over 30 years.

Q. How will my personal belongings be protected from paint?

A. For interior painting, after you have removed your delicate items we will cover furniture and the floor with a clean drop cloth.

Q. Do you charge for estimates?

A. We do not charge a fee for estimates.
